Karoor is a custom text typeface designed for NBS and SPCS Publications. Developed in 2016, it is an Old Lipi font featuring over 1,000 glyphs across both Malayalam and Latin scripts. The design is a sharp-cut, rounded serif specifically optimized for print. While Karoor excels in readability at small body-text sizes, it is equally effective for large-scale advertising. Notably, the typeface was used for the primary branding of Krithi 2018, an international book and literature festival organized by SPCS.

Lekha began as an entry for the RIT 2024 competition, organized by the Rachana Institute of Typography, Sayahna Foundation, and KaChaTaThaPa Foundation. This project has been a significant learning journey, allowing me to dive deep into Malayalam type design—specifically the complexities of the Old Lipi style and its technical OpenType requirements.

After extensive development and testing, the project is entering its final stages. It currently features 9 weights and a growing library of glyphs. I am excited to announce that the first edition of Lekha Regular is now available for free!

Graxor is a condensed typeface that conveys energy and movement. Influenced by grotesque styles, it features a compact design and sharp details crafted for maximum impact. Graxor is ideal for headlines, logos, sports, and branding. Its dynamic appearance makes it a strong choice for digital design and modern branding, adding a bold and eye-catching presence to posters, brand identities, and other creative projects. Available in a full range of weights from Thin to Thick and designed with inktraps, Graxor ensures enhanced clarity, legibility, and high-impact visuals across all sizes.

RT Thinkal is a serif typeface supporting both Malayalam and Latin scripts. As a modern Malayalam Lipi variable font, it features advanced OpenType functionality and a 90-degree axis. The design strictly follows precise path-making with inked joints and sharp edges. While the thick-to-thin contrast ratio was developed through an experimental approach, it performs successfully in both display and print environments.

MP Paul is a custom display typeface commissioned by NBS and SPCS Publications. Developed in 2014, this “New Lipi” Malayalam font was designed specifically for high-impact headings and titles. While optimised for the rigors of display and print, its bold makes it exceptionally effective for large-scale advertising and environmental graphics.

RT Chunk is a high-impact, compressed display typeface designed to maximize presence within tight constraints. Born from an exploration into extreme verticality, it features a distinctive Malayalam and Latin character set where letterforms are squeezed into dense, rhythmic blocks without losing their structural integrity. To maintain legibility at such high tension, the design incorporates rounded ink traps that soften the impact and ensure clean reproduction across various media. This balance of ultra-tight spacing and refined, smooth detailing makes RT Chunk a powerful, space-efficient tool for headlines, branding, and editorial covers where every millimeter counts.
